Through visually stunning footage of over fifty countries, all shot from an aerial perspective, Yann Arthus-Bertrand shows us a view most of us have never seen. He shares with us his sense of awe about our planet and his concern for its health. With this film, artist-activist Arthus-Bertrand hopes to further the call toaction to take care of our HOME.

You can watch the entire film for free on youtube. If you haven’t seen HOME yet, you’ve got to watch it. You will be amazed and inspired.

Skin Deep Cosmetics Database

This is the best site I have found about safe cosmetics and cleaners. It’s a huge database of cosmetics and ingredients created by Environmental Working Group. My favourite feature is that you can look up any ingredient in your cosmetics or cleaners and get a list of all proven and suspected hazards. It gives you a hazard score from 0-10 for each ingredient. It also includes ecotoxicity in it’s analysis but the main focus is health issues.

EWG and Skin Deep also have safer shopping tips, a ‘what not to buy' list of the worst ingredients, and a selection of consumer guides.

Of course, it would be much better if shoppers didn’t have to read labels just to find out if the products are safe. What we really need is legislation that requires all ingredients to be proven to be safe before being put into cosmetics. The Story of Cosmetics has more about this.
